Purpose
Ensure that DHL is the benchmark for security excellence in the Logistics industry. Initiate, co-ordinate and implement loss prevention measures and conduct investigations into losses and other security incidents relating to DHL assets, personnel and shipments carried by DHL India.
Customers
  • Provide assistance sensitively to the customers’ security and commercial needs.


  • Regional Security Head (ASPA)
  • Provide accurate and timely data and information on all security, safety and Business Continuity planning related issues in the Country assigned


  • Country Management
  • Provide advisory inputs as Subject Matter Expert to security, safety and Business Continuity Planning related issues

  • Advise country management of any loss prevention changes and recommended counter-measures


  • Security Vendors
    § Law Enforcement, Security Officials, Local Authorities & Regulatory Bodies, Security Consultants, Private Investigators
    § Liaise closely to ensure strong links are maintained between DHL and such authorities.
    DHL Legal Representatives.
  • Country Legal, Risk and other shared-services representatives


  • All DHL Country Staff
    Security Managers at other DHL locations
    § Liaise closely to ensure a cohesive and effective security strategy within other Stations of the Country.
    Regional Security Office
  • Liaise closely to ensure a cohesive and effective security strategy and to facilitate smooth coordination with Regional Security Investigator on all investigations

  • Liaise closely to ensure a cohesive and effective security strategy and to facilitate smooth coordination with Regional Security Manager on all audits, regulatory compliance and training matters


  • PROCESS

  • Driving Security Excellence

  • § Develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and security practices to safeguard DHL employees, customers’ shipments, DHL assets and information against loss, damage or incident.
    § Co-ordinate country security activities and ensure compliance of DHL staff and sub-contractors with security procedures as specified in the Regional Security Policy and Procedures Manual.
    § Conduct security audits (and assist other audit teams e.g. TSP), both proactively and reactively to assess the effectiveness of security practices and procedures at country sites.
    § Co-ordinate the implementation of stipulated and other relevant Security training programmes for country personnel and in particular DHL specific training programmes such as SAFE.
    § Conduct investigations on freight losses / damages, security-related incidents and other enquiries as required.

    Security related Networking
    § Developed extensive contacts with Security personnel in a variety of industries, including the airfreight /airline industry as well as local law enforcement and regulatory agencies
    § Develop and maintain extensive internal contacts within DHL as security of the shipment in DHL custody is an end-to-end process


  • Security Incident Database – Information Management

  • § Input and participate in the reporting of security incidents into the database
    § Prepare and analyse the database information for the production of regular reports on shipment and other security incidents, including Dangerous Goods. Where appropriate, recommend and initiate actions to investigate and resolve significant security incidents as they occur.

    External security analysis
    § Maintain a current threat and risk analysis by systematic analysis of national and international events and criminal trends.
