Job Description
ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Consultant – Scientific Officer to conduct vegetable research and extension services to implement its vegetable improvement program with smallholder farmers in Jharkhand. The position will be based at Ranchi in Jharkhand, India to work in the JOHAR project funded by the World Bank. This position is open for Indian nationals only. The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is an international non-profit institute for vegetable research and development. Founded in 1971 with headquarters in Taiwan, the Center’s global network today covers East and Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Central Asia. For more information, please visit our website: worldveg.org The Job: To work under the guidance of the Team leader and Trainer leading the JOHAR project to implement project activities in the target locations, including;
- Provide scientific inputs to all WorldVeg research work in support of its field activities
- Design and supervise the conduct of field trials and demonstrations across both states to promote good agricultural practices;
- Collect data, conduct analyses and maintain records of all project research activities;
- Produce periodic progress reports, technical papers and presentations needed by donors, project beneficiaries, WorldVeg management and team members;
- Organize and provide technical inputs in training programs for farmers and partner agencies;
- Good working knowledge of agriculture practices, especially in the cultivation of locally grown vegetable;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi;
- Good computational and word processing skills and skills in handling variety evaluation trials;
- Strong team player and willing to work as part of an extended team comprising several agencies.
