Key Responsibilities

  • External Elsevier Research Business representative and spokesperson to government and regulatory bodies, press & media and partner. Build high profile relationships and network to establish Elsevier image, influence policy making and align Elsevier's approach with government's 5 year vision.
  • Execute account and territory sales & field marketing strategies to deliver total Elsevier value aligned with account business strategies.
  • Actively build advocacy for South Asia RSS business by sharing with Elsevier Senior Management the team’s ambition, the opportunities.
  • Present and the support/investment needed to overcome challenges and capture opportunities.
  • Be the go to person in South Asia and also actively reach out to key stakeholders in various functions including products, segment/solution sales, STMJ, Technology, Operations, GSN, Marketing, etc. for alignment and landing of support and investment in South Asia.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnership with high impact government entities and partners, with close collaboration with internal teams including REGGA , RN etc;
  • Identify problems to solve, form hypothesis of solutions, develop and incubate MVPs when local products/solutions are identified as strategic initiative to grow new customer business, and manage
  • Be the expert of research content and analytics market, ensure policies of governments, data and insights gained from end user researchers, competitors and partners are well captured, available and utilized in South Asiam research solution market landscape tracking and analyzation;

Business Strategy

  • Develop and execute an effective sales strategy for future success, by building a future ready/ collaborative team, building advocacy across Government to influence policy and capture opportunities to accelerate growth.
  • Be the unifying force, pulling people together, working across teams and with the APAC vertical groups to ensure the results are optimal.
  • External Elsevier representative and spokesperson to government & regulatory bodies, press & media, and partner. Build high profile relationships and network to establish Elsevier image, influence policy making and align Elsevier’s approach with government’s vision.
  • Be accountable for the business’ top line revenue growth and profit margins; responsible for revenue budgeting and forecasting
  • Develop and execute plans and programs to grow Research solutions’ business in existing customer base of Elsevier and other, the goal is to drive growth with selling multi-research product solutions to empower customer for better research efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Identify, size and prioritize opportunities for gaining market preference that result in the growth of the business and define joint cross functional priorities across local regional and global teams that are needed to execute against the opportunities
  • Develop strategy and tactics to gain new research business for potential new customer categories in academic, government and corporate segments;
  • Share progress of strategy, priorities and progress with the wider teams and senior management teams

Achieve Revenue & Growth Objectives

  • Responsible for total Elsevier business in territory (country strategy, market Intel, planning, local marketing, execution), in alignment with business & strategic objectives
  • Be accountable for the business’ top line revenue growth and profitability margins
  • Evolve the strategy to ensure the company has effective process for looking into the future and making sound decisions about markets, products, customers, suppliers and partners
  • Is responsible for revenue budgeting and forecasting through active pipeline management and reporting
  • Strategize and lead major contract negotiations

Team Management

  • Create an inclusive team culture of trust and collaboration which reflects Elsevier Operating principles
  • Lead by example; manage change (effectively implement and embed global initiatives in region)
  • Review, align and develop RSS South Asia organization to support business strategy and country growth
  • Build up a strong RSS South Asia team inclusive of segment and solutions teams that work collaboratively to maximize gains for Elsevier
  • Work in alignment with Solutions stakeholders including Sales VP and RSSD on achieving their South Asia growth ambition through mutual support
  • Lead by example; manage change (effectively implement and embed global initiatives in region)
  • Ensures the right level of account management (holistic Elsevier value aligned with customer strategy) through coaching, role-modeling
  • Optimize different sales channels – e.g. both direct, inside sales and use of agents
  • Put in systems, process and tools that improve sales performance, productivity and customer respond speed. Establish governance to measure and ensure progress against plans to ensure desired outcomes;
  • Deep understanding and ability to leverage Elsevier sales tools (e.g. sales compensation plan, pipeline dashboards, etc) to drive sales behavior also to connect with country market situation to drive local adaptation and innovation
  • Support collaboration to execute on South Asia Strategy
  • Partnership as growth driver – identify new sales channels for further market penetration and for strategic collaborations that increase the conduciveness for the market to adopt Elsevier’s solutions
