The Relationship Manager (RM) acts as the primary strategic point of contact for an assigned book of government 457(b) clients with total relationship assets between $25M and $500M. The RM is accountable for ownership of assigned client relationships including strategy, overall service delivery, evaluating, improving and managing client satisfaction and risk / retention efforts, and client P&L evaluation and management. The RM must successfully drive plan and participant outcomes as defined by plan sponsor and Empower. The RM will collaborate with plan sponsor and internal partners to transform each plan by successfully identifying, socializing, managing, and delivering better processes and solutions for each client and their participants. The RM must ensure exceptional client service and ultimately each plan sponsor’s satisfaction.
This position will be working with 457(b) plans in Massachusetts, Connecticut and upstate New York.
What you will do
Maintain client relationships and enhance overall client satisfaction, actively reducing risk of client loss and improving the financial viability of client relationships
Reinforce assigned clients’ buying decision and strengthen overall client relationships
Consistent client meetings, working with internal SMEs and the service team to bring Empower’s best thinking to clients in the areas of plan design, funding, administration, participant communications, compliance, fiduciary governance and industry trends Identify and effectively report key indicators, recommend solutions and identify opportunities to leverage talent and relationships to retain and enhance the relationship critically important part of the role
Deliver periodic plan statistical, regulatory/legislative, and industry trending presentation to clients – both via phone and in person
Partner with internal shared services team to effectively support the client to meet all contractual requirements and improve client satisfaction and profitability
Collaborate with the client service team to develop, present to the client and implement client business planning deliverables
Participate in new business finals presentations and client site visits building rapport with clients and managing client expectations beginning with the sales process and continuing throughout the relationship
Understand clients’ needs, aligns those needs to business plans and ensures implementation with high quality execution
Leverage and showcase knowledge of the company’s products and services with the client to enhance service to the plan sponsors and key stakeholders
Serve as the key SME on their assigned plans and anticipates challenges and issues, recommend product/process/service improvements
Proactively identify and determine solutions for problems that impact business success and management
Maintain plan persistency and grow book of business via achieving 100% client persistence and increasing new enrollments and contributions, and adopting new political sub-divisions
What you will bring
Business degree or equivalent from accredited institution
6+ years of industry and/or RM experience
2 years' experience working with leaders and key clients
Prior experience with corporate defined contribution client relationships
Demonstrated experience in identifying solutions and resolution to issues and design matters.
Understanding and being conversant on revenue and expense variables associated with client relationships Understanding of investment management products and services
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentations skills, building partnerships internally and externally including plan sponsors, consultants, key stakeholders and business leaders
FINRA Series 6 and 63 registrations required within established timelines
FINRA fingerprinting required upon hire

The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Base Salary Range$ 110,000.00-186,900.00
