Your Role and Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include troubleshooting and solving, complex, technical issues for enterprise customers using technical knowledge, product knowledge, problem-solving skillsand exceptional written and verbal communication skills in an English-speaking environment. Our client list includes top technological and financial companies, as well as government agencies from all over the world. The senior engineer will drive customersatisfaction aiming to avoid critical situations.

  • Provide expert and creative solutions to user problems and ensure user satisfaction and productivity
  • Liaise with other support personnel and development staff in order to achieve a timely solution to bugs and problems within IBM products
  • Communicate directly with customers who are carrying out requirements engineering for complex software and systems and working in different development environments using a wide variety of IDES and third party tools
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and respond promptly to incoming product issues that can be complex in nature
  • Escalate unresolvable issues to development.
  • Provide support in accordance with current standards and service level objectives
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of relevant product offerings, current support policies, and methods of support delivery, in order to provide technicallyaccurate solutions to users
  • Work with other IBM departments to solve technical issues as needed.
  • Identify and escalate critical problems at major accounts
  • Handle escalated cases from other support teams
  • Assist other support engineers in support of complex issues when required
  • Contribute to the development of a technical knowledge base
  • Work as an active team member providing ongoing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Provide updates to customers and management on open cases

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 12+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Working knowledge of application servers(WAS, Liberty, Tomcat)
  • Working knowledge of database servers (Oracle, DB2)
  • Subject Matter Expert in using and supporting IBM development tools including: Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager, Jazz Reporting Service and Jazz foundation.
  • Understanding of Java or other object-oriented programming language
  • Knowledge of web applications
  • Skills to diagnose and troubleshoot systems and related network issues
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to understand and clearly document complex multi-faceted technical issues
  • Technical or scientific academic background
  • More than 5 years of experience in a Technical Support role

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Additional language skills such as German are desirable
