We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Business Analyst – Regional Collections.

Department Overview of Collections

HSBC relies on its Collections teams to work closely with customers who are in financial difficulty, and reach repayment solutions that best meet the needs of individual customers and the bank

Collections function is geographically spread across the globe operating out of onshore & offshore locations also known as GSCs (Global Service Centre)

The Operations Support team is one of the enabling teams in Collections that support Operations team to become more efficient, effective and achieve right outcomes for our customers.

Roles & responsibilities

A Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the optimization of Collections Operations efficiencies and effectiveness via the use of actionable analytics to support defined business priorities. The role is expected to act as analytics consultants to Operations heads and help analytically solve various sophisticated business problems. The role also provides thought leadership to support well-reasoned decisions in matters of, operational improvements. In addition to providing leadership and oversight to multiple analytical engagements, the role holder will actively monitor trends and emerging methodologies in the industry, leveraging those observations to identify opportunities and support recommendations. The role holder, as an individual contributor, will create, maintain and enhance high quality, validated analytical outputs. Primary focus will be on ensuring direct impact to bottom line collections results through improved performance, enhanced customer satisfaction, and sustainable efficiency gains.

The incumbent’s key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Supports various GSC Collections in analyzing business, systems, and data structures
  • Identifies improvement opportunities corollary to the business strategy and priorities
  • Analyzes performance metrics and indicators to identify gaps and its root causes
  • Engages with various teams at every level in the organization in order to understand specific requirements with regard to the development of a business solution
  • Facilitates workshops or focus group discussions in order to extract the required information from stakeholders
  • Establishes specific plans on how to collect data and on how to verify its veracity prior to conducting any analysis
  • Benchmarks best practices from other markets/processes or from other organizations outside of HSBC/GSC
  • Utilizes industry best practices and methodologies in discovering operational insights out of data
  • Conducts customer journey reviews as necessitated by any initiative
  • Collaborates with Consultants and Project Managers in completing analytical activities necessary to an initiative (e.g., business case, cost-benefit analysis, gap analysis)
  • Provides analytical and statistical expertise to arrive at facts-based process and/or policy changes
  • Frame and communicate the findings to stakeholders, including senior management in a manner that is easy to comprehend
  • Lead activities related to budgeting, forecasting, planning, and variance analysis
  • Work effectively both as an individual contributor and within a group
  • Manage multiple initiatives at the same time while maintaining the highest standards of analyses and deliverables
  • Manage competing requirements and resources
  • Maintain flexibility and productivity in a fast-paced environment with geographically-distributed teams
  • Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company and regulatory standards, policies and practices; reports control weaknesses, compliance breaches, and operational loss events.

Qualifications

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in business or management disciplines (e.g., Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Management Science)
  • At least 3 years of proven data science/analytics experience
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in banking, financial services organization, business process outsourcing, and/or debt collections is highly preferable
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with ample experience in working with large sets of data with utmost accuracy and precision
  • Knowledge of SAS, MS-Office (E).
  • Knowledge of additional reporting suites such as Qlikview / Qliksense
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, with experience in dealing with senior management to create presentations within a short amount of time
  • Skills in Microsoft Visio, preferred
  • Experience in leading project teams is highly preferable
  • Experience in designing and generating detailed reports
  • Able to apply the appropriate statistical analysis tool in a problem and be able to communicate the findings clearly
  • Experience in data visualization techniques or technologies
  • Programming knowledge in SAS, SQL or other equivalent analytical tools is preferred
  • Leads or facilitates meetings with stakeholders including project reviews and strategic planning activities
  • Experience in creating test plans and leading user acceptance tests
  • Must be a self-starter and amenable to work under minimal supervision while still adhering to deadlines and quality expectations

  • At least 3 years of proven data science /analytics experience
