Role Descriptor

DHL Express is looking for an Operations Training Manager to join and lead the team. He/she will be responsible to Lead and manage Training for Operations function. Will be responsible to drive performance improvements by ensuring that all Operations staff receive necessary training to develop their knowledge and skills to perform their jobs well to meet current and future business needs/challenges.

Key Responsibilities

He/she will have to perform the following key activities:

    Through HR, work with local national training associations to utilize government funding and subsidies for training as well as towards achieving awards for training and people development.
    Ensure courses on DHL safety and dangerous goods adhere to local country requirements.
    Maintaining training subsidies and funding fully utilized, budget well utilized.
    Maintaining training passes DHL and local regulatory audits and standards.
    Country Management & Functional Teams:
  • Develop an annual Operations Training Plan for staff development and performance improvement.
  • Provide regular Operations Training updates which identify performance gaps, actions to be taken and investment required to achieve performance targets
  • Work with functional training managers in HR, CS and Sales to identify operations-related issues and initiate training and improvement plans to address the issues.
    Regional Management Team:
  • Provide input on country requirements towards the development of the Regional Operations training needs analysis and plan.
  • Support regional projects with product/process roll-out, testing, training and follow up action plans.
  • Share country initiatives for Best Demonstrated Practice.
    Operations Program Manager:
  • Support all initiatives and improvement plans for ongoing process and system changes.
  • Participate in Global SOP/Functional audits to understand performance gaps and operating issues better so as to be able to contribute to overall training effectiveness.
    Operations Employees:
  • Ensure all Operations employees are effectively skilled and developed to meet business and succession needs while achieving goals set in AOP. This includes all regulatory and mandatory trainings.
    Training Vendors/Consultants:
  • Source and implement training programmes from external Training Consultants where necessary. Inform Regional Office of vendors used and details of training program outsourced for strategy alignment.
  • Evaluate external vendors and programs for effectiveness.
    Training & Development Teams:
  • Work closely with HR Training Department to identify and develop Line Trainers from Operations.
  • Work closely with training groups in Sales, Customer Service & HR to jointly develop relevant programs for Operations staff.
    Training Needs - Identify performance and competency gaps from Global SOP/Functional Audit, Survey results, performance appraisals and feedback for training requirements that address business issues.
    Training Programs - Source and implement relevant Operations training programs within the DHL Network.
    Field Training/Coaching – participate in field training reviews and coaching at the workplace.
    Training Evaluation - Report post-training evaluation on all Operations training programs and action plans for improvement on training methodology, content and process.
    Training Scorecard - Compile and maintain an inventory of Operations training received by every staff and acquired skills/competencies.
    Improvement Projects – Participate in cross- functional projects for operational improvements and ensure training requirements support business needs.
    Training Materials - Develop comprehensive and user-friendly training manuals for Operations-related systems and programs with available material from the DHL network and from local training vendors or consultants.
    Updated Training materials available for reference & training any time.
    Blended learning approach well implemented – online, classroom & on-the-j
    Employee Induction – Implement a comprehensive and effective Operations Induction Program with On-the-Job training modules and assessment to develop a highly skilled and knowledgeable operations team.
    Online Learning – Contribute to the development, validation and deployment of online courses, processes and assessments.
    Improved productivity and service levels from customized training.
    Mentioned in Regional Management
    Trainers & training programs evaluated for effectiveness and improvement.
    Updated Monthly Training Scorecard and Competency Checklist maintained.
    Development of Team Members
    Develop a high performance service culture within the functional department. Plan, organize and direct an efficient and effective functional department.
    Develop IKOs/KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance.
    Conduct performance appraisal.
    Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets.
    Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.
